The First to Fall:

Beyond the veil, thus known, await
Me, if so it is that by fate,
As seen by God, you cast the spell
To death before tis I, his gate
Upon me, who must, as one to live,
Be judged, as all before, as well
As those to come, before the one.
I hope, as it is, and has been,
You will ascend, as light, to where
The angels sing as sweet as love.
As known—a snake, who once you saw—
The temptation draws, yet so once
As pure as angels, still he fell,
So yet you, then, so I, to fall—
For if not paradise then hell.
